About the Event

This workshop draws on experience and learning from taking the Work That Reconnects (WTR) into the Welsh Government. The aim is to inspire participants to carry the WTR into their own local, regional state or national governments, health boards, Truth and Reconciliation Commissions, NGOs,  corporations or any other organisations.

This is particularly for WTR facilitators who are interested in bringing the Work to one of these areas and for people who work in one of these institutions and are interested in exploring how they can bring in the Work That Reconnects to strengthen resilience and ecological or systems thinking. Ideally, participants will have some prior experience and knowledge of the WTR (and please contact me if this isn't the case, so I can share a resource list prior to the workshop)

Developing the ideas introduced in the April 27th 'WTR in the Corridors of Power' webinar (link to a recording here) this workshop will provide a more tailored practical step by step approach, including:

  • How to approach institutions or gate-keeper colleagues to get buy-in (what’s your hook?)
  • How to market the WTR within organisations
  • Which practices work well online and in a workplace setting
  • The importance of follow-up sessions to embed learning

Every participant will receive a pack with a copy of the Welsh Government marketing materials, two-workshop session plans, resource list and survey questions.

A pre-workshop questionnaire will be circulated to participants to ensure that the content is tailored to your needs, as far as reasonably possible.

Ongoing follow-up support for participants through a mentoring group will also be availablle.

Places will be limited to 12 on a first come, first seved basis, with a waitlist for re-runs of the workshop, if required.

Time: 4:30- 7:30 pm BST (British Summer Time- check your own time zone here

Your facilitator:

Karen Scott is a WTR facilitator living in west Wales, her ancestral land and the place where she most feels at home. She trained to facilitate the Work That Reconnects with Chris Johnstone and Jenny McKewn 2012-2013 and also with Joanna Macy and Chris Johnstone at a five-day intensive in the summer of 2013.

Since spring 2019, when she left her fulltime paid work in community development, Karen has run her own practice, Being in Nature, regularly offering online spirals for activists and others.

The pilot project that took WTR into Welsh Government was inspired by Karen hearing Joanna Macy tell the Shambhala Warrior prophecy. Karen is also a doting grandmother to twin toddlers, a keen grower and explorer of the beautiful Pembrokeshire coast and countryside.

For further information, please visit her facilitator profile here: https://workthatreconnects.org/user/karenann/

The whole group portions of this workshop will be recorded. Activities and  sharing that occurs within breakout rooms will not be recorded. The recording will be available after the live event and will be sent by email to all participants.
